Turn the January Blues Pink!

January is often a time for personal development and focusing on feeling better. For us at Fiona Cairns it’s a time to celebrate anniversaries, as 2025 marks 20 years since we developed our iconic fairy cakes!

It’s a miracle how our amazingly talented bakers stay calm, making just shy of 4 million fairy cakes every year. Delicately pretty, deliciously petite, we nailed our FC’s FCs (Fiona Cairns’s Fairy Cakes) classic British formula way back in 2005, when Fiona made ten boxes for Selfridges. The recipe hasn’t changed since; they remain handmade and exquisitely decorated as they’ve always been. There’s no better time to indulge in one. So light a candle and wallow in the quiet peace of a brand new year, a calm moment of sweetness after the happy festive chaos. Get yours at Waitrose or Ocado this month. 

Looking back at 20 years of fairy cakes makes us feel nostalgic: there’s something sentimental about January… perhaps it’s the sense of endings and beginnings. To bring sweetness to your musings, grab a box of our very fancy fondant fancies, from garden centres, farm shops and Harrods (see Find Us page for suppliers). A little fondant fancy certainly does help us to feel a bit better.
